« I never imagined it would take four years, » I thought as my children finally reunited with their grandfather.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children have reunited with their grandfather hb, King Charles, for the first time in four years.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their two children, 7-year-old Prince Archie and 5-year-old Princess Lilibet, to Highgrove House on Friday, July 10.
Photos of the family reunion at the King’s private residence in Gloucestershire, England, are not expected to be released.
The last time King Charles, 77, saw his grandchildren was in 2022, when they attended the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II.
Initially, there was uncertainty over whether Meghan Markle and the children would make the trip because of ongoing security concerns.
In June, reports suggested that the entire family would travel from the United States to England for the long-awaited reunion with King Charles. But by July, those plans appeared to have collapsed after they were denied taxpayer-funded security guarantees.
« Their plans to see their family, friends, and visit various charitable causes close to the Duke’s heart were ripped from under their feet at the 11th hour, » a source told *The Guardian* at the time.
According to an insider, the Duke of Sussex, 41, was « looking at all options to try and bring » Meghan, 44, and their children to England « safely and keep them secure while on the ground. »
After deciding on what they believed was the safest course of action, Harry traveled to the United Kingdom alone earlier this week to promote several charitable organizations.
During his visit, he also officially launched the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham.
Then, on Thursday, *Page Six* confirmed that Meghan and the children would, in fact, travel to England after all.
Although the family will not make any public appearances together during the visit, insiders say they hope to visit Princess Diana’s burial site at the Althorp Estate in Northamptonshire, England.
The reunion marks the first time Archie and Lilibet have seen their grandfather since 2022, ending a four-year gap between King Charles and his youngest grandchildren.
Harry lost his official security privileges in 2020 after he and Meghan stepped down from their roles as senior working members of the royal family. The issue has remained a central factor in decisions about whether the family could safely return to the United Kingdom together.
Despite those challenges and months of uncertainty over travel arrangements, the family was ultimately able to reunite privately with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House, away from the public eye.
