I took another one.
Positive again.
When I showed Michael, he stared at it for several seconds before pulling me into his arms.
“We’re really having a baby?”
He looked shocked.
Emotional.
Almost overwhelmed.
At fifty-five, I knew I needed to see a specialist immediately.
Michael came with me.
The appointment started normally.
The doctor asked about my medical history, then turned toward Michael.
“Have you ever been treated at this clinic before?”
Michael hesitated.
“Years ago.”
She typed his name into the computer.
Then she suddenly stopped.
Her expression changed.
She opened another file.
Then another.
I felt Michael tense beside me.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
The doctor looked at him carefully.
Michael suddenly stood up.
“We should go.”
