When my father-in-law, Robert, moved into our house, I was honestly happy.

He was sixty-eight, had recently lost his wife and lived completely alone in a huge house. My husband, Daniel, suggested that he stay with us for a while. Our six-year-old daughter Emily loved her grandfather and, whenever she was with her, Robert seemed to regain the desire to live.
