I Drove My Friend’s Mom Home… Then She Leaned In, “Take Me Somewhere Quiet.” I Never Regretted It

I laughed.

“Where is she?”

He gave me the address.

“Thanks, man,” he said. “I owe you.”

“You owe me so much that the national debt is starting to look reasonable.”

He hung up.

I stared at the phone for a moment.

Then Karen walked over and wrapped her arms around me from behind.

“What’s wrong?”

“Your son is trying to send me on a romantic rescue mission.”

She laughed.

“Perhaps you should go. You might find another woman in distress.”

I turned and kissed her forehead.

“There’s only one woman I want to rescue.”

She gave me a thoughtful look.

“Alex, we’ve discussed this.”

“Right. You don’t need rescuing.”

“Exactly.”

I smiled.

“Then there’s only one woman I want to drive through the rain to have terrible coffee with.”

She kissed me.

“Much better.”

I grabbed my keys.

At the door, I turned back.

“Love you.”

She smiled.

“Love you too.”
