“Listen, about earlier—”
Seraphina waited.
He did not apologize.
Instead he said, “Please don’t call tonight.
I need complete focus.”
Her eyes closed.
“Of course.”
“I knew you’d understand.”
The line disconnected.
Seraphina stood still for a moment.
Then another phone rang.
Julian.
“The car is outside.”
“I’ll be down in twenty minutes.”
“There’s something else.”
“What?”
“Holloway submitted revised projections to Bellamy’s investment committee this afternoon.”
Seraphina frowned.
“I didn’t authorize a new submission.”
“You didn’t.”
“What projections?”
Julian was silent for half a second too long.
“Revenue forecasts for the Miami Harbor medical complex.”
“That project hasn’t been approved.”
“I know.”
Seraphina’s expression hardened.
“Send me the filing.”
“It gets worse.”
The document appeared on her tablet.
Seraphina opened it.
Within thirty seconds, her breathing changed.
Holloway Meridian had presented the unapproved medical complex as though Bellamy Holdings had already committed $420 million in financing.
