The Moment Our Divorce Was Finalized, I Shut Down My Ex-Mother-in-Law’s Luxury Credit Card

“Mr. Harrison,” I said quietly into the phone, “send them up.”

There was a pause.

Then he replied, “With pleasure.”

The elevator at the end of the hall chimed.

Ronald turned sharply.

The doors opened, and four people stepped out.

First came Victor Dane, my lead attorney, a silver-haired man with the posture of a general and the patience of a saint. Beside him walked Mara Ellison, Harrison Global’s chief financial officer, dressed in charcoal gray and carrying a leather portfolio embossed with the company seal.

Behind them were two security officers, tall, silent, and unmistakably not building staff.

Ronald’s expression shifted.

Not fear.

Not yet.

But confusion.

That wonderful, dawning confusion of a man realizing the room had changed before he even understood the conversation had started.

Victor stopped several feet from Ronald.

“Mr. Cobb,” he said evenly, “you are trespassing.”

Ronald scoffed. “This is a private family matter.”
