I looked like myself.
And that seemed to disturb him most of all.
“Lexi,” he said, lowering his voice, “tell these people to leave.”
“No.”
Priscilla’s eyes narrowed. “Who do you think you are?”
I smiled faintly.
“That is the question none of you ever cared enough to ask.”
Mara Ellison stepped beside me and handed over a slim folder.
“Ms. Carter, these are the final board acknowledgment documents.”
Ronald stared at the folder.
Then at Mara.
Then at Victor.
“What board?” he asked.
I opened the folder, signed where Mara indicated, and handed it back.
Victor’s mouth curved slightly.
Mara turned to Ronald with immaculate professionalism.
“Mr. Cobb, Ms. Carter is the majority owner of Harrison Global Holdings.”
The hallway went so still I could hear the faint hum of the elevator.
Ronald blinked.
Priscilla actually laughed.
A brittle, ugly sound.
“That’s ridiculous,” she said. “Lexi? Owner of what?”
