Victor nodded.
“There’s more,” Sienna whispered.
She reached into her purse again and pulled out a folded paper.
“I took this from his jacket pocket before I came here.”
Victor unfolded it.
His expression changed instantly.
“What is it?” I asked.
He laid the paper in front of me.
It was a draft press release.
Not from Ronald.
From Cobb Meridian Capital, his boutique investment firm.
The headline read:
COBB MERIDIAN ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT WITH HARRISON GLOBAL HOLDINGS THROUGH FAMILY TRUST INTEREST
For a moment, I couldn’t process the words.
Then I understood.
“He was going to imply a connection to Harrison,” Mara said, voice low.
Victor’s mouth hardened. “Not imply. Manufacture. He planned to use his former marriage to suggest access to Lexi’s ownership position, likely to attract investors or stabilize debt.”
Mara grabbed her tablet and began typing furiously.
“Cobb Meridian has been under pressure for months,” she said. “Two failed hospitality deals, one lawsuit from a lender, delayed investor redemptions.”
